Prof. SHANTI LAL OSWAL YOUNG SCIENTIST AWARD |
The Indian Thermodynamics Society with a view to promoting excellence in the field of Thermodynamics and Bioenergetics instituted an Award for Young Scientists in 2012 in the name of Prof. Shantilal Oswal Young scientist Award. The Award is established by Alumni of Prof. Oswal in his honour by donating Rs 1,00,000/-. Prof. Oswal has been a distinguished scientist and academician who has made significant contributin in the field of Solution Thermodynamics.
The award will be given every year to a young scientist up to the age of 40 years as on 31 December of that particular year, during the Indian Thermodynamics Society National Conference/symposium held at different locations in the country. The award carries a citation, prize money of Rs 3,500/- in addition to TA (train travel by III AC class) for attending the conference.
The nominations for the award may be forwarded (in the prescribed format) by the Supervisor with an abstract of the presentation and bio-data of the nominee along with research publications (for Research Fellows or PDF/RA/Pool Officer) or by the Head of the Department/Research unit (if the nominee is a faculty member/Scientist but up to the age of 40 years, to the Secretary of The Indian Thermodynamics Society with a copy to Convener of the Conference/ symposium.
Nominee should be engaged in research and holding a regular position (Research Fellow/Project Fellow/ PDF/RA/Pool Officer/Faculty/Scientist) on receipt of the Award and should have published/accepted minimum 5 scientific publications in peer reviewed and good impact journals (minimum 3 publications in-case of candidates continuing Ph.D. or fresh Ph.D. (within 2 years of application date)).
The award selection committee will comprise of the President/Secretary of The Indian Thermodynamics Society, Convener of the Conference/Symposium, and a member from The Indian Thermodynamics Society executive committee.
The candidate selected for the award will be asked to deliver an invited talk during the Conference. For this purpose, the selected candidate will be informed 2 to 3 weeks prior to the conference.
